Congratulations on taking this important step to understand and learn about Islam from the people that practice it everyday - the Muslims - rather than what you may gather from the media and other sources.
We have a lot of material on the subject of Islam. We hope we can help you answers in your truth-seeking quest. It may be you are here for the first time and don’t know what to expect, so a small introduction to Islam will be in order.
The word Islam means to surrender, that is- to surrender ones will to God. Muslims are people who surrender themselves to God and His commands. The Qur'an is the last and final revelation to Mankind just as God sent down revelation before, and Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the last and final messenger on behalf of Mankind. Before this, God had sent his messengers like Noah, Abraham, Moses, David and Jesus to name a few. Since God has created man, and He has sent a message to man to ponder and reflect over, it naturally follows that limits He has sent in the commandments to mankind are the best way for humans to live and have a balanced life.
Islam is the only major religion not named after a person or place. There are over one billion Muslims in the world occupying the largest tract of land on the globe. Islam believes in strick monotheism. Muslims believe in God who is above time and space, who creates without reflecting, who is one, alone, and nothing is even comparable to him.
We encourge you to keep coming to this site and to keep your mind open. You will hopefully find a lot of engaging material on this website. Islam is the most misunderstood religion. There are 1.3 billion Muslims in the world today of every color, from every continent, and every culture. In this way Islam teaches that all men are created equal in the eyes of One God.
The Book of Signs Foundation, a non-profit charitable organization was established for just that purpose - to deliver to you the message of the Qur'an (the main source of guidance for all mankind) so that you may see for yourself what Islam says rather than hearing and seeing the distorted picture of Islam by the media. As a note we would like to mention that no translation could capture the true meaning of what the Qur'an says in Arabic. Any translation is subject to interpretation of the translator. Anyone seeking to truly understand the Quran has to read it in Arabic.
If you find any verse that is not clear, please feel free to call us and we will connect you with someone who can clarify the meaning. We hope you will find this information beneficial to your understanding of one of the most popular yet least understood religion in the West - ISLAM.
